What characterises a proactive safety culture? This is a question often discussed and it is a question the maritime industry is continuously trying to comprehend. On a continuous basis Green-Jakobsen is involved in debates on the difference between ‘Learning from incidents’ versus ‘Learning before an incident’. ‘Learning before incidents’ is ‘What we need’ as an industry and it requires that we direct our thinking and that we understand how we can do this. The reason is that unfocused thinking can result in a ‘I wasn’t thinking’ explanation.
This third online course (third out of six) about the human element focuses on how our thinking can influence our performance and why it is important to direct it in the right direction, thereby improving your (safety) performance. As always, I will present a bit of theory, some methods but also some practical advice and tools.
