Well-being takes more than physical health. The mental and emotional state is also a key part of well-being, and all three aspects require attention on board — individually and in the working and living environment in general. The crew’s performance at work is largely dependent on their health and well-being. Good health and well-being can be achieved when leaders are capable of creating a healthy on board environment where everyone has high energy, concentration, situational awareness, and decision-making abilities.
This module will not only help you understand the concept of situational awareness: what its steps are and how to develop and maintain it. It will also enable you to recognise the importance of managing stress and fatigue on board ships.
