Danish Maritime Legislation for Foreign Senior Officers Except Masters
This course is offered as a package together with the Safety and Health (§16) course, which is a mandatory prerequisite.
Learning Objectives
After successfully completing the course, the participants should be able to:
- Familiarise themselves with the purpose of the Danish maritime legislation and its application
- Determine answers and solutions to problems of common occurrence using the legislation
- Recognise their duties and responsibilities as senior/junior officer/engineer in relation to the penalty clauses in the acts, orders, and regulations adopted for this course
- Demonstrate understanding of the regulations by applying them in given scenarios
Modules
Mode of Delivery
This course is self-paced and carried out via an e-learning platform according to this process:
1) Attend a 1-hour briefing session with the DMA facilitator
2) Complete and pass modules via an e-training platform
3) Complete and pass the final examination
4) Receive a certificate of completion
Course Duration
The total duration of the course is 4 days.
3 days cover Safety and Health (§ 16)
1 day covers Danish Shipping Legislation

Registration
This course is for all foreign (non-Danish) senior/junior officers/engineers who:
- Are candidates to serve on board Danish-flagged vessels
- Have taken the Safety & Health (§ 16) course
- Hold a valid Certificate of Competency (COC) and Seaman’s Book
